There are different types of poultry house system in which explicit explanation is given below:

Free Range System: Free range system is the oldest system and it is adopted only when adequate land is available. It encourages raising birds by letting them move around the field called range. In this system the major source of feed is Foraging, in free range system, there should be provision for shelter, green feed, water, shade etc. Shelter is usually provided by temporary roofing supported by ordinary poles but as at present, this method is fading out gradually(outdated)

Semi-intensive System: it is commonly used by small scale producers in which birds are half way reared in houses and half way on ground or range.in this  system, birds are confined to houses in night or as the need be and they are also given access to move around. Houses built for them may be the simple one with thatched roof, littered earth floor or slatted, there is need to provide protection from inclement weather predators.

Deep Litter System: in this system, poultry birds are kept in large pens on floor and it is majorly for the broilers. The floor is covered with litters, such as straw, saw dust or leaves up to depth of 2-3 inches. It is easy access for feed, water, egg collection, provide for good protection. The disadvantage of this system is that it requires high quality liter and litter born diseases.

Slatted or wire-floor System: it is a small house with a slatted or wire mesh floor, feeding, watering and egg collection is handled from the house, the poultry house is cooler but expensive and suitable for adult birds only.

Cage System: cage system is the process of rearing birds or raising birds with the use of cage.it could also be rearing of poultry on raised wire net floor in smaller compartments called cages. It is suitable for keeping high density of birds when space is limited. Feeders and waterers are attached to cages from outside, except nipple waterers, for which pipeline is installed through or above cages. The droppings are either collected in trays underneath cages, on belts or on floor or deep pit under the cages. The cage is of different types such as; A TYPE 3,4 TIER of LAYER, BROILER, PULLET CAGES also we have the H TYPE 3,4,5 TIERS OF LAYER, BROILER, PULLET CAGES both manual and automatic.

Modern Housing System: In recent years, most poultry operation are intensive type houses with environment controlled house in which inside conditions are maintained as near as to the birds optimum requirements. A closed building with no windows, longitudinal preferably east to west, with big exhaust fans on west side while evaporative cooling pads on east side along with automatic feeding and drinking system inside. Fully system controlled with no manual control, feeding system, watering system, manure collection system, egg collection system are all mechanized and automatic.
